Why the Nets can cover

Point guard Dennis Schroder has been a solid contributor since being acquired last month from the Toronto Raptors. In nine games with the Nets, including five starts, he is averaging 12.3 points, three rebounds and 4.7 assists. In three meetings against the Grizzlies this year, Schroder is averaging 15 points, 4.3 assists and 3.7 rebounds. He just missed securing a double-double in both Thursday's and Saturday's contests against Atlanta. On Thursday, he scored 23 points, while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out seven assists. He scored 14 points with eight assists, two blocks and two rebounds on Saturday.

Center Nicolas Claxton, a former second-round pick by the Nets, has been a force inside for Brooklyn. He has 21 double-doubles on the year, including a 12-point and 13-rebound performance against the Hawks on Saturday. He added four assists, two blocks and two steals in the win. His best offensive output came in a 124-115 win over Oklahoma City on Jan. 5. In that game, he scored 23 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out three assists. See who to back at SportsLine

Why the Grizzlies can cover

With Memphis decimated by injuries, one of the top scoring options will be third-year veteran Lamar Stevens, who was acquired last month from Boston. Since the trade, Stevens has scored 10 or more points in five of eight games, including a 19-point performance in a 122-92 loss to Portland on March 1. He scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out two assists in the first meeting with the Nets.

Rookie forward Gregory Jackson II, who was drafted in the second round of last year's NBA Draft, has played well of late, including a 17-point effort in Saturday's loss to Portland. He scored 11 points against the Blazers on Friday. In 28 games, including one start, he is averaging 11.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 20.5 minutes of action. He has scored 20 or more points five times, including a season-high 27-points in a 113-110 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb. 15. See who to back at SportsLine
